Indoor Football Shoes
Sports hall football and futsal need a completely different shoe to anything you would wear outside. Indoor football shoes have flat, non-marking rubber soles that grip polished floors and let you stop, turn and roll the ball without sliding about.
We compare IC and IN shoes across UK retailers so you can pick up the pair you want for less. Filter by brand, price or collection to narrow things down.

IC, IN and futsal shoes
Nike labels its indoor shoes IC, for indoor court, while adidas, Puma and Mizuno tend to use IN. They are the same idea. Futsal shoes are indoor shoes built specifically for the faster, more technical game, often with a gum rubber sole and a thin upper for close control. Mizuno's Morelia Sala range is a long-time favourite with futsal players.
Why not just wear trainers?
Running trainers have thick, cushioned soles that make you feel unstable when you change direction quickly, and their soles are not built for the side-to-side movement football asks for. Indoor football shoes sit lower to the floor, grip better and give you a much better feel for the ball.
Can I wear them outside?
Flat soles have almost no grip on grass or artificial turf, so they are strictly for indoors. If your five-a-side is on astro, you want astro turf trainers instead. Wearing indoor shoes outside also wears the soft rubber down quickly.
What to look for
Check the sole is non-marking, as most halls insist on it. A suede or leather upper gives a softer touch, while synthetic uppers are lighter and easier to clean. As with boots, entry-level models are fine for a weekly game and the pricier versions add comfort and a closer fit.
Frequently asked questions
What are indoor football shoes called?
You will see them listed as IC (indoor court), IN (indoor) or futsal shoes. They all have flat rubber soles for hard indoor floors.
Are futsal shoes the same as indoor football shoes?
Broadly, yes. Futsal shoes are a type of indoor football shoe, usually with a thinner upper and a gum sole designed for the futsal ball and pace of play.
Can I wear indoor football shoes on astro?
You can for a casual game on dry astro, but grip is poor. TF astro trainers are much better suited.
Do indoor football shoes mark the floor?
Most are made with non-marking soles, but check the listing if your venue is strict about it.
