AG Football Boots
With so much grassroots football now played on 3G and 4G, AG football boots have become the pair a lot of players actually wear week to week. They are made for long-fibre artificial grass with rubber crumb, which is what most club training pitches and plenty of match pitches are now.
We compare artificial grass football boots across UK retailers so you can find the lowest price on the pair you want. Use the filters to narrow things down by brand, collection or budget.

How are AG boots different?
Turn one over and you will see more studs than on a firm ground boot, and they are shorter and usually hollow and conical. That spreads your weight across more points, so the boot grips the fibres without locking into the crumb. On a 3G pitch that means less drag when you turn and less strain going through your knees and ankles.
3G, 4G and the odd one out
AG boots suit 3G and 4G pitches, which have longer grass fibres and rubber infill. Older, flat, sand-based astro is a different surface, and the short pimpled soles on astro turf trainers work far better there. If you split your time between grass at the weekend and 3G in the week, an FG/MG pair from our firm ground range can cover both.
Which level should I buy?
Most brands make AG versions of their main silos, from Club and Academy up to Pro and Elite. If you train twice a week on 3G, a mid-tier pair usually gives the best mix of comfort and durability. Elite AG boots are lighter and closer fitting but they cost a lot more, and prices on the same model often vary between retailers.
Frequently asked questions
Can I wear AG boots on grass?
On firm, dry grass they will be fine. On soft or wet grass the short studs will not grip, so you will want FG or SG boots for those games.
Are AG boots the same as astro trainers?
No. AG boots have short studs for 3G and 4G pitches. Astro trainers have flat rubber soles with small pimples, made for short, sand-based astro.
What does AG-Pro mean?
AG-Pro is Nike's name for its artificial grass soleplate on higher-end boots. It does the same job as AG on other brands.
Do I need AG boots for 3G?
You do not have to, but they are designed for it. Many clubs and venues recommend AG or FG/MG boots on 3G, and some ban metal studs outright.
